MICHAEL STERLING ENDORSES CEASAR MITCHELL FOR MAYOR

Former mayoral candidate suspends campaign to put “full weight” behind Mitchell

ATLANTA – On the steps of his home in the historic West End neighborhood, Ceasar Mitchell welcomed Michael Sterling and his family as he endorsed Mitchell for mayor. Often called Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed’s protégé, Sterling announced the suspension of his campaign and committed to putting his “full weight” behind Mitchell’s bid to win the race.

“This race has also adopted a tone and tenor that compels me to remind Atlantans we are better together. Our families — especially our children —deserve to live in a city where integrity and civility are the rule and not the exception,” Sterling said. “Without jeopardizing what’s in the best interest of Atlanta … we believe we’ve got to put our support behind someone who shares our values, who shares our commitment to building a better Atlanta. That person is Ceasar Mitchell.”

“I think it’s important to note that I am — and make no bones about it — the only Democrat that can win this race,” Mitchell said. “I certainly understand what it means to work well with others to set a new tone at City Hall.”
