Dr. Charles Ross
Local Educator, Entrepreneur, Minister announces candidacy for Stonecrest City Council District 1!
Promising to make a difference in the lives of Stonecrest City residents, Dr. Charles Ross wants to become the inaugural councilman for District 1 in the newly formed city. Ross, an educator and entrepreneur brings a wealth of knowledge on business, education and community issues to the position. He is the President of Premiere Education Services, Inc. in the City of Stonecrest and a veteran elementary school teacher.
Dr. Ross is a proven leader in the business field having launched several successful businesses including a Christian Bookstore and a Financial Planning Firm. A former Vice President of Investments at Wells Fargo, he created and hosted the nationally syndicated radio show Your Personal Finance which for twenty years aired on over 100 radio stations across the country and was heard daily on WVEE-FM (V103) radio. While a personal finance columnist for the Atlanta/Journal Constitution he authored two books. As a proven bridge builder he’ll use his negotiating skills and business acumen to attract new business to the City of Stonecrest.
As a seasoned educator with a PhD in education, he has taught graduate classes at Capella University and is currently molding young minds as a fifth grade teacher. He’s committed to focusing on helping students that attend schools in the Stonecrest area achieve their academic potential by working with the Dekalb County Public Schools and the community. Dr. Ross is uniquely qualified to identify and address the issues facing teachers and students. He recently established a math tutoring business to assist students in reaching their full potential. “It’s important that in addition to focusing on business development and economic empowerment, we need to make sure that schools in Stonecrest are helping students achieve positive academic outcomes,” says Dr. Ross.
Dr. Ross has also been very active in the community and has served as a PTA treasurer for both Rock Chapel Elementary School and Stephenson High School and as treasurer and board member for the Water’s Edge Homeowners Association. In addition, he has served as President of the Atlanta Association of Urban Bankers and as a board member of the Consumer Credit Counseling Service. Dr. Ross, an ordained minister, is the former executive pastor and chief financial officer of New Bethel AME Church and finance chair for Ben Hill United Methodist Church.
Dr. Ross has resided in Dekalb County for over 33 years and has called what is now the City of Stonecrest home for the past 8 years. Ross is excited about participating in the process of making Stonecrest one of the best cities in the nation. “I’ve always felt the need to give back and my election will give me an opportunity to address the needs of the community I live in and love,” said Ross.
Dr. Ross is the proud father of four daughters with three of them having advanced degrees and who also graduated from Dekalb County schools. He graduated from the University of Georgia and holds both a Master’s degree and PhD. Dr. Ross is urging all residents of District 1 in the City of Stonecrest to go to the polls on March 21st and vote for a proven leader who will work for you. Let’s win together!
