Was it justified? Police said man shot, killed alleged car thief
An Atlanta man arrested in connection to a fatal shooting at a gas station Saturday night said he had nothing to do with the crime.
Raheem Scott told investigators he came out of the Exxon gas station located in the 500 block of Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard around 7 p.m. to find someone in his car. He said he tried to stop the attempted thief at gunpoint.
Police arrived to the scene shortly after to find William Blackwell, 50, of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, dead in the driver’s seat of a black sedan. Investigators said Blackwell’s body had a gunshot wound to the head.
