During his run for President, Donald Trump promised black America a “new deal” with a vision of “safe communities, great schools and high-paying jobs.”
But now that Trump has taken the oath of office, what will these campaign promises really look like on a policy level? And who within the black community has bought into his vision?
In this episode of “True Story,” Natasha heads to D.C. for Donald Trump’s inauguration to see how different sides of black America reacted to his swearing-in.
On her journey she meets a group of black conservatives who are praying for the President’s success, including Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Elroy Sailor, one of the newest members of the Trump transition team.
She also talks with protesters who have vowed to fight Trump every step of the way, and finds out why Princeton professor Eddie Glaude Jr. says Trump still doesn’t deserve a chance with black America.
