Police: Clerk dies after gas station shooting

A gas station clerk has died following an attempted robbery early Tuesday morning.

The shooting happened at the Shell gas station located on Old National Highway, according to Fulton County police.

Investigators told FOX 5 a male clerk, believed to be in his 20s, was shot in an attempted robbery around 5:30 a.m. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he later died.

A gas station employee told FOX 5 his coworker had only worked as a clerk for about one week.

Police said two suspects fled on foot after the shooting. Investigators are hoping store surveillance video will help them identify the suspects.
