Meet Robert Turner, District 2 City Council Candidate, Stonecrest

A New C.U.L.T.U.R.E. for A New City

Now it’s our turn. Stonecrest can be built on the strength of a rebounding economy; a resurging educational system and fiscal integrity.

My desire as your Councilman for District 2 is to bring a new Culture that will enhance the quality of life for all the citizens in Stonecrest. Culture is who we are; what we do and how we care for one another.

I have lived in DeKalb County for over 25 years. I along with my wife Vickie, are the proud parents of three adults children, Clint, Chris and Victoria and four wonderful grandchildren.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications from Florida State University and a Masters Degree in Radio, Television and Film from Bowling Green State University.
I’m currently Program Operations Manager for the Georgia Department of Labor, Distance Learning Center where I have been employed for the last 18 years. In this capacity, I serve as liaison for the 47 Career Centers throughout the State and other State agencies, in the conceptual development, and production of training videos, workshops and teleconferences.

My wife and I founded The Augustine Preparatory Academy of Atlanta, a Preschool thru 8th grade private, independent Christian school in DeKalb County, where I served as Chancellor for 9 years. As Chancellor, I set the course and directives for the school, providing guidance and oversight for operations, budget, and governance.

My professional experiences will benefit me as I seek cross-collaborative relationships with all stakeholders, to include our government officials, school and, community leaders and parents. I have served my community in various capacities, advocating on behalf of children, serving as PTA president; Committee and Fundraising Chair; GED instructor and Athletic coach for Church, School and Community leagues. I have served as a deacon, covenant community leader, conducted marriage workshops, and I am a Charter Member, Theta Eta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated and a founding Board Member of Grio’s Fire Theater Ensemble.

I’m ready for the challenge. I want what you want, safe communities; strong economic base; competitive schools; quality of life for our seniors and governmental integrity, that’s the CULTURE I will help to create as your Councilman for District 2 in Stonecrest.
