Georgia lawmaker plans Orlando shooting memorial concert
ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia’s first openly gay lawmaker is hosting a memorial concert for the 49 people killed and others wounded in the mass shooting at an Orlando nightclub.
Rep. Karla Drenner says the event will be held Monday at noon in the rotunda of the Georgia Capitol in Atlanta. The Democrat from Avondale Estates says the Atlanta Women’s Chorus and the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus will give performances.
Officials say 49 people were killed and more than 50 wounded when gunman Omar Mateen opened fire inside the Pulse nightclub early Sunday.
