Fire Destroys Restaurant in DeKalb County
Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a DeKalb County restaurant and event center Sunday.
Flames engulfed the Bombay Grill on Savoy Drive in Chamblee.
DeKalb Fire Captain Halani Lobdell told FOX 5 crews responded to the structure after a driver reported seeing smoke around 4:30 a.m. from Interstate 285, which runs parallel to Savoy Drive.
No one was inside the restaurant at the time of the fire.
Nearby resident Robert Woolford saw the damage while on his morning run.
“It’s sad to see a fire like this…they are wonderful members of the community. I hope they will rebuild and get back into business soon,” Woolford told FOX 5.
The cause remains under investigation.
