Ala. Child Abducted in 2002 Found in Ohio

An Alabama boy who was abducted 13 years ago has finally been found.

According to al.com, Julian Tiberius Hernandez was 5-years-old when he went missing in Birmingham in August 2002.

According to Special Agent Vicki Anderson of the FBI’s Cleveland Ohio Division, they got word late last month that a local teen might be a missing Alabama child.

Monday, authorities confirmed the now 18-year-old is in fact Julian Hernandez after federal agents contacted Vestavia Hills Police, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Birmingham FBI office to confirm his identity.

The teen is safe and unharmed, but his father is now facing abduction charges. Authorities suspected from the beginning Bobby Hernandez, 53, was behind the disappearance.

Hernandez was arrested and charged in Cuyahoga County Court. Al.com said he’s currently charged with one count of tampering with records. This charge stems from him giving false information to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles to get a driver’s license in 2012, according to Communications Director Joseph Frolik of the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office.

Hernandez is also facing charges in Alabama for the 2002 abduction of his son.

The investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible.
