Texas Lawmaker Wants To Jail Women Who’ve Had Abortions

A Republican lawmaker in Texas has proposed a bill that would criminalize abortion while at the same time forcing women to be “more personally responsible” for their sexual behavior.

Tony Tinderholt told The Texas Observer, “Right now, they don’t make it important to be personally responsible because they know that they have a backup of ‘Oh, I can just go get an abortion.’ … but consenting adults need to also consider the repercussions of the sexual relationship.”

The bill was introduced last week and is called the Abolition of Abortion in Texas Act. It would effectively ban abortion at every stage of a pregnancy and make it possible for women and doctors to be charged with murder for the procedure.

Due to the fact that Tinderholt does not believe that there should be “any exceptions to murder” there are to be no exceptions to the law for rape or incest.
