My name is Charlean Parks, and I welcome the opportunity to serve as your Council Member for the New City of South Fulton, District 6. As a homeowner and resident in South Fulton for 11 years, residing off of Flat Shoals Road near Old National Highway, I am keenly familiar with the citizens, businesses, and unique characteristics of our district — as well as the issues we face.

With over 16 years of experience in leadership, financial management, and operations paired with much of my work in the community I’m prepared to represent our district with a focus on “Leadership In Action.” As an Homeowners Association Board Member for my specific community, I have played an instrumental role in keeping our community safe and beautiful.

I believe protection, pride, and promise are what we need to make our new city flourish. I’m committed to bringing real results to issues of all sizes from the cracked sidewalk in front of your home, to emergency response times, new parks in our neighborhoods and improved transportation. On Day One, my first task will be to Create Safe and Vibrant Neighborhoods and to Defend Our Children’s Future.

My role as National Marketing Director with DIVERSANT, Inc. the largest African-American owned IT staffing firm coupled with my service as a partner at Work Source Atlanta has prepared me to elevate law enforcement presence and perception, increase walkability and streetscape beautification, and work to protect and prioritize our youth programs, specifically public after-school/community programs. To cultivate communities that we can all be proud of we must work together, through citizen engagement programs Front Porch Roll Calls, citizen police academies and incentives for both residents and law enforcements to reach across the tense lines, I am confident that South Fulton can be an example for other local governments and safety officers statewide.

I will use my expertise in strategic planning, creative development, and project management to ensure that we are giving planned attention to detail and use of South Fulton’s natural resources — increasing economic development possibilities on our main corridors. It’s important that we can all welcome family & friends to our city, representing the pinnacle of a scenic and safe environment.

Through Work Source Atlanta I’ve had the pleasure of creating and delivering career development programs to more than 3,000 Atlanta-area high school students. It’s my hope that in the South Fulton community, we can become even more entrenched in our communities, more involved with our children and know their needs educationally, mentally and physically — all with the hopes of defending their imagination, creativity and innocence, while securing a promising future.

I’m Charlean Parks and I look forward to continuing to serve. For me, the option was never to get involved–it was to lead in the promotion and uplift of our community
