Hall County Bus Driver Charged for Deadly Crash

Deputies have charged a Hall County school bus driver for a deadly crash on Tuesday afternoon that killed a woman and injured six students.

The bus driver, identified as 57-year-old Vanessa Clark of Clermont, is facing charges of vehicular homicide and failure to yield, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office. The accident occurred on Cleveland Highway near Whitmire Circle around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. The victim was identified as 52-year-old Sabrina Tench of Cleveland.

According to the Hall County School District, the bus was coming from Wauka Mountain Multiple Intelligences Academy with students onboard. The district said the six elementary school children were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. They were all treated and released .

Josh Huff and Phillip Goss, who live near the crash site, told FOX 5 they rushed out of their homes to try to rescue the victim who was trapped in her car. They said several people pulled and tugged at the doors of the crushed car to get to Sabrina Trench. The Sheriff’s Office said she died from injuries from the crash.

The school district described the bus driver as a veteran bus driver. A spokesman told FOX 5 Clark will not be driving any buses, pending the outcome of the investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office said she was cited and released at the scene.
