Clayton County deputies shot at, suspect at large

Authorities need your help finding whoever opened fire at some deputies in Clayton County this week.

Several deputies with the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office were standing by their patrol vehicles in the Kendrick Middle School parking lot around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday when someone opened fire in their direction.

The deputies were preparing for a road check when a vehicle traveling southbound on Kendrick Road drove by and fired a shot. According to investigators, one patrol car was struck on the right-passenger side.

No deputies were injured.

Investigators are now searching for the person or persons responsible.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a 2002-2006 silver four-door Hyundai Accent. The vehicle was seen traveling at a high rate speed on Kendrick Road. According to the sheriff’s office, a right rear passenger was wearing a red and black shirt or jacket and possibly a toboggan, or ski mask. Unfortunately, that’s the only description investigators have to go off of.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office at 770-477-4479.
