Health Secretary Tom Price took his star turn on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday to defend the House health care bill’s treatment of Americans with pre-existing conditions, calling the Obamacare repeal a “better way” to cover those illnesses. Pressed by Andrea Mitchell on a coalition of health groups and other advocates who oppose the measure, Price said it said it would allow “for every single person to get the access to the kind of coverage that they want.” He continued: Look, nobody wants folks who have a pre-existing illness or injury not to be covered. We want to make certain that we can doRead More →

NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal said he’s aiming to run for sheriff – he didn’t say where – in 2020. The 45-year-old told 11Alive it’s not about politics but “bringing people closer together.” Here’s more from the station’s website: Shaq says he’s perfect for the job, because he can relate to everyone. “I can put on a suit and have a conversation with Bill Gates. I can go in the hood and talk to the homies, and talk to the children.” O’Neal has kept busy since retiring from the NBA in 2011 with appearances in films, TV shows and viral videos and as an analystRead More →

It began about a week after the first vote in Georgia’s 6th District, when Democrat Jon Ossoff challenged Republican Karen Handel to six debates on the “issues that matter most” to voters. Her campaign’s response left little room for interpretation: “We welcome any chance to highlight Jon Ossoff’s inexperience and are excited to have a robust debate on the issues.” Fast-forward to Monday morning, when Ossoff said he has “confirmed” three debates: One with CBS-46, one with WSB-TV and a third hosted by the Dunwoody Homeowners Association. Except that Dyana Bagby of Reporter Newspapers wrote last night that Handel had declined to attend the MayRead More →

Is Donald Trump a madman like Kim Jong Un, or does he just play one on TV? To put it another way: is the president dumb, insane, or is he trying to throw the game — the game in this case being his presidency —to avoid impeachment or, even worse, jail? There are rumblings from Republicans and Democrats alike that President Trump has been acting peculiar and unhinged lately, even by his own standards. People are concerned about his rambling and incoherent speeches. Trump just gave a bizarre, awkward interview with CBS, in which he cut things short after the interviewer repeatedly asked him questionsRead More →

BRANCHBURG, N.J. (AP) — The White House has fired its chief usher, the person responsible for managing the residence, staff and overseeing events. No reason was given for Angella Reid’s dismissal. Two White House officials confirmed that Reid, hired in late 2011, had been let go. The officials requested anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss personnel matters publicly. Reid was the first woman and second African-American to hold the post. She oversaw daily operations at the 132-room mansion and its staff of over 90 plumbers, electricians, butlers, cooks and others. The chief usher coordinates closely with the first family, and helps ensure thingsRead More →

During an interview with Sway Calloway on SiriusXM’s Sway in the Morning, Zoe Saldana spoke about how racism and sexism are alive and well in the United States today, a fact that was brought to the forefront of her attention with Donald Trump’s election. “There was a realization that I just had in this last election is that, that America is racist,” she said. “Of course, there’s racism everywhere,” she continued. “I’m not saying that there isn’t. But I think that sexism is much stronger and it’s much more aggressive. And turn on the TV, just read the newspaper.” Check out the full interview from ‘Sway in the Morning’ below: Read More →
