Canton teen injured in overnight shooting

Canton police are investigating a shooting that left a teen injured early Wednesday morning.

Just before 2:30 a.m., police responded to a home on Alpine Street after a mother found her 16-year-old son on their living room couch with an apparent gunshot wound on his chest area.

The young victim was transported to Northside Cherokee Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

Detectives remain on scene, working to identify a suspect and determine who’s responsible for the shooting.

A neighbor told FOX 5’s Kaitlyn Pratt he woke up to a single gunshot and said he heard someone running behind the house and squealing off in a vehicle.
