Six people were killed and 15 others injured when a white pickup truck drove down a bike lane in Lower Manhattan Tuesday afternoon. The driver of the truck apparently struck several cyclists during the incident—mangled bikes could be seen strewn along the path—before getting out of the vehicle with what police described as fake firearms. He was shot by police and is now in custody. The incident came to an end on of the West Side Highway near Chambers Street—close to the World Trade Center site.
The incident is being investigated as an act of terrorism.
